PLZ DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT | Brown Mackie College

1.1
Details
I was dealing with this school in 2014 and its nothing but negativity in my life now in 2020. I registered in brown mackie college Birmingham and in a year had been put out of school with no explanation TWICE , had money stolen from me , credit scores are TERRIBLE , and even taken my tax money. My whole life was ruined the day i started ... The next week my student award letter was changed without my knowledge and kept changing when quarters were every three months ....they were literally stealing the money out of my account before i even saw it . These people waited until I got all the way to my externship passed it and wanted me to retake the class right before i was supposed to walk across the stage. They threatened to drop me if I didn't.... Then they dropped me..This school was a mess and my loaners are helping me get these loans forgiven. Plz sort these out if you're a former student . This really will mess up your life and you'll have no control ... Keep these schools closed

Got an AAS in medical assisting, not accredited, and can't even prove I got the degree! Now I can't get certified to get a job and owe like 25,000! | Brown Mackie College

BMC was a waste of time, effort and money. Can't use this degree bc they weren't accredited so I can't take the certification exam so that I can get a job. And my branch closed and I can't even prove that I have a degree. Now I have to start over at a different school. This is ridiculous!

Check if your area has a community college.Sometimes state or county employmt services has a program with very low tuition for people who are poor disadvantaged vet under or over a certain age bracket. In college you wont have to pay anything and they can help you find work. See if a class action suit is being filed.

Disgusted with Brown Mackie | Brown Mackie College

Well ive graduated from Brown Mackie Atlanta Ga in 2010. Ive has my degree for years now and srill havent been able to gw a job in my feild. They Promised internship mines lasted for one month. I didnt even learnn anything. While there I notice the population of people they registered to the school. It lookes like they were picking homless people of the steet. I started to become very uncormfortable there I could wait until I graduated. I want to continue my education but cannot because the majority of the schools that i tried registering for will not acknowlege my credits. I am over 50 thousand in dept because i owe money to this school. I dont want to register if i have to start all over and still owe this money. I am over brown mackie. If I new what i know now i would never have gone to this school. Brown Mackie did not let me know that me know that my credits wouldnt be transferable to a suny or cuny college.

My credits aren't worth the paper they're printed on. | Brown Mackie College

Initially signed up for 16 credit hours, as needed for a prerequisite into another program I was working on getting into. Got into the program, which was no problem there. But, BMC literally REFUSED to release my transcripts until I enrolled in another 4 credit hour class. On top of that? When I transferred to another college, came to find the 16 credits, plus the additional 4 I had to take to get my transcript, were non-transferable. ANYWHERE. Last time I called BMC to investigate the matter, they refused to even speak with me about it until I paid an outstanding balance towards my last course, even though I had a receipt for the course they claim I didn't pay. Glad it shut down. Good riddance.

Deceiving and Unprofessional School will leave you in debt | Brown Mackie College

I enrolled in 2012 in their accounting program. At the time I was not working but I stressed the importance of flexibility if I found a position. Well I was able to have the position held for two weeks until I was able to change my classes unfortunately after going back and forth I eventually had to withdraw from the school and start work. I was also advised I would be given a laptop included to complete my homework assignments which I never received. Next thing I know Im getting bombarded with a loan from them and also a Government Loan. I have no idea what happened to this company but their bills ceased but I was stuck paying back over $4000 for about 3 weeks of class and approximately seeing the teach 3 times. When I was speaking with management with the company whom hired me I was advised the accredited school I was told they were turned out to be a fibb as well. This is not the college you want to list on your resume or be proud to graduate from..

DISREGARDED | Brown Mackie College in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Brown Mackie disregarded me as a student and wouldn't let me enroll in a later cohort when they found out they would be shutting down. After no answers to any calls or email I left it as a loss. Now I don't know if I will even be allowed to enroll in a different school. This left me with an unfinished nursing program and supposedly still owing them $2,400. Now I get harassed and can't do anything about it. Yes I did go there but how am i Supposed to still owe for a program I never got to finish? Thanks Brown Mackie for ruining two years of my life, my credit and my chances of going to another school with financial aid help.

Brown Mackie College - Program Review

1.0
Details
I went to Brown Mackie in the year 2010. I had made it all the way up into my core classes for my program. In those classes you need a 77% minimum to pass and I received a 76.3%. So in order to take the class again I had to wait 6 months, but when the six months came around they said they had no room for me in the class. I was out $20,000 and school loans and had to join the military. I don't know how I should go further with this. I am in college now but I have to start all over again and nobody takes Brown Mackie credits. They are shady people who just see students as dollar signs.

Save your time & money! | Brown Mackie College in Erlanger, Kentucky

I attended Brown Mackie College in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky from April 2011 – September 2012 for Practical Nursing. I had applied for school in March of 2011 and was required to file/apply for any Pell Grants/potential loans under my mother’s income & credit score. My mother and I were told while in the Brown Mackie financial department that I wasn’t able to obtain any type of assistance or loans based off of credit scores and income. In order to attend school at Brown Mackie, I would be required to pay around $550 per month. I was drawn into the program after discovering how quick I could be done with college and begin working in my field of choice making a nice living wage. I ultimately decided to attend Brown Mackie College beginning in April 2011 and began paying my monthly payment at that time. My final month at Brown Mackie was September of 2012 and at that time, I knew that I had around $3000 left that I owed to the school. I received a letter from Brown Mackie stating they would take a settlement amount of around $2,400 and that day, after receiving the letter, I went in-person to pay the “settlement amount” and received a receipt stating “paid in full” for my schooling. You can imagine my surprise and concern when I began receiving letters and phone calls stating that I owe money for loans that I was unaware that I have since I was informed that I wasn’t eligible for any type of loan(s) and paid such a high amount each month just to attend college. My credit score has drastically dropped down for “non-payment” of said loans. I find it very hard to believe that I owe anything from attending this school. I, myself, can’t believe that this school is actually still in business. I had issues with this school while attending. As I had previously mentioned, I was attending Brown Mackie for Practical Nursing. While in school, I was required to take ATI testing every few months. I was threated multiple times by the school & teachers that if I was unable to pass this test that I would be dropped from the program and no longer eligible to re-apply/re-enter this program. Luckily I passed the test and graduated, but, just the thought of almost having all of my hard-work, time & money just swept out from under me raised multiple red flags. What type of higher education establishment was I attending? To add to my frustration, I wasn’t aware that the credits from Brown Mackie are non-transferrable until about a month after I had graduated. I would like to have the opportunity to continue on with school and higher my education, but, I essentially will be starting over. The only “good thing” that has come out of attending Brown Mackie is that I did obtain my Practical Nursing licensure, but, I have been unsuccessful in finding employment since the nursing field is mainly employing only Registered Nurses. So really what’s so “good” about it? The fact that I can say I am an LPN? I feel that I have been scammed and robbed and believe the U.S. Department of Education should feel the same. I can only begin to imagine how much money this “college” has taken from it students and the U.S. Government. Upon further investigation of this school, I have discovered that the branch of this school that I attended is no longer in business. Another discovery of mine was that the neighboring state of Indiana had sued Brown Mackie college and its parenting company Education Management Corporation for bribing their recruiters to sign more students for programs just to obtain loan money on behalf of that student whether that student continued with school or not. This entire college is a complete rip-off to anyone who attends and apparently signs students up for loans whether they know it or not just to put in their own pocket which is what I believe has happened to me. I believe this school needs to be under further investigation by the U.S. Department of Education. It is definitely not my responsibility along with other students to pay for their fraud.

I graduated in 2010 from the COTA program from the same location, and I feel like I was not disbursed all of the monies that were due through the loans (I now owe, though not working in the field). The program was pretty shoddily run, and I was lied to about fieldwork on more than one occasion, having to repeat and pay again for a 12-week rotation.

I agree. The Fort Mitchell campus should be under investigation.

My BMC experience | Brown Mackie College in Patriot, Indiana

5.0
Details
I actually enjoyed my time in BMC and I learned a lot! So although more prestigious institutions don't recognize the credits earned at BMC employers certainly recognize the degree, and my degree has gotten me several good jobs in my field of study. As far as transferring credits, I have not had any problems transferring credits to other colleges. It is actually up to each individual school to decide which credits transfer and which don't. So I am satisfied with my experience at BMC for several reasons. 1) Employers certainly recognize the degree so it will help you get the job you are seeking. 2) Because of the reputation, and all of the lawsuits my student loans are going to be forgiven by the government and I wont have to pay anything back yet I get to keep my degree. 3) Because of my GPA at BMC I was nominated to become part of Alpha Beta Kappa (ABK) National honor societies fraternity who will give me letters of recommendation any time I need one, and will help me in any other ways I need them which will give me an edge to getting the job I am seeking. So I have the prestige of knowing I successfully completed my degree program earning my degree, and I earned a lifetime membership in a nationally recognized fraternity so to each their own when it comes to choosing to go to this school, but for me I don't regret my decision at all, and am very happy with my experience.
